Hockney is exactly who I was thinking of when I first saw this.

Clive, I think you have a fabulous sense of design. I'm really impressed with this deceptively simple composition of three women. You've conveyed the message of their relatedness and their individuality equally well. I also love the empty space. The canvas is divided diagonally with the women taking up a little more than half the space, so they dominate rather than being squished into their "half."

Clive this is unmistakeble as your work. Maybe other artists influence you, but I recognize it as "you" right away. You have great props, or else your furniture is incredibly interesting! The women in your life must be very proud of you.

Clive,

I missed this one when I was away. What an original compostion. It is so refreshing to see something like this . You handled the various age differences with aplomb.

Each figure is so well designed. Well done!

Yes, Clive working large is very liberating until you have to cart the darn things around.

Wow, hats off to you, Clive. I am working on a portrait of three people at the moment and I think I am in trouble; It's hard! But you did a great job.

Congratulations!

Clive,
This is so lovely, I too love the composition. I find it very interesting how similar mother and daughter are folding their hands in a similar way - there are some genetic similarities after all! I really like how you have rendered you mother-in-law's eyes - very attractive.

Congrats!

Clive I did see this when you first posted it but missed the chance to comment -- so glad it popped up again! Very touching tribute. You've set the three women in such a way that they complement each other so well and none upstages the others. I especially enjoy the way you've managed to convey the individual personalities of each. I like the little detail of the facial expressions and hand positions, as well as the color choices with their black and white outfits and the color accent on your daughter's resonating with the colors in the floor and chair. Very pleasing all the way around.
