Congrats, Thomasin! I'm SO, SO happy that the judges recognized the merit of your piece. It is brillant, but entirely un-self-consciously so, because it truly evolved by that irrational and soulful process which you described a while back. A big, BIG congratulations from me!
(Incidentally, I feel honored to be in excellent company because my
Young Harpist is a finalist in the portait/figure category. I have a sneaking feeling they picked it because it is of an attractive young woman strumming a beautiful instrument, and not for the other reasons I painted it, but oh well! I'm thrilled anyway! Are there any more Forum members out there who got any award or mention in this competition?)
Carlos, I checked the
Artist's Magazine website and there is no list. They are planning to print the winning art and the list of finalists in the December issue.
