Having just defended "mediums" on the basis of usage in an evolving language, I meant to juxtapose the pedantic "opprobrium" visited upon the hapless "hopefully." I thought a discourse on adverbial disjuncts would not be read hopefully by most members.
Hey, Tom, taking your cue, I've just discovered that my online Webster's says that the plural is "mediums or media". Where are Funk & Wagnall when you need them? (Or is that, Where is Funk & Wagnall's when you need it?)
